Welcome to the April 11, 2005 issue of the On Point Technology newsletter. Our goal is to keep you up-to-date on the latest unemployment insurance news and developments at On Point Technology.
In this issue:
Arkansas Goes Live with BARTS
In 2003, the Arkansas Employment Security Department (AESD) was looking for unemployment insurance fraud detection and management software, and On Point Technology was the only vendor providing a packaged software product to meet its needs. On Point Technology worked with Jessie Cain, Benefit Payment Control Manager, and her staff to configure Barts to comply with Arkansas unemployment insurance law, policy and precedent. In December 2004, AESD went live with Barts, and since then has run a weekly cross match of unemployment insurance benefits against the Arkansas new hire registry and streamlined the adjudication of received tips and leads. These are two of the many strategies available in Barts that enhance AESD's ability to meet its BAM goals for overpayment detection and recovery.
NASWA Forum a Huge Success
On Point Technology recently exhibited at the National Association of State Workforce Agencies (NASWA) 2005 Winter Policy Forum, held February 28 through March 2 in Washington D.C. at the Omni Shoreham Hotel.
With more than 200 participants in attendance, On Point Technology representatives Michael Lorsbach, Michael Marshman and Bob Yokavonus demonstrated the company's software products - Aware, Barts and Webs - to staff members from 35 states, many of whom came back to see the demo more than once. US Department of Labor officials were especially enthusiastic about the software demo, which highlighted 19 one-click audits in Aware, and kept sending state representatives to see the demos. With the crowd standing three deep at times, even a false fire alarm that emptied the hotel couldn't deter interest in On Point Technology's impressive software suite.
Also at the conference, Workforce Reporter made its debut as a separate module; the crowd responded positively and quickly realized potential additional uses for the module in areas such as service distribution, resource administration, labor market information and quality control. The successful exhibition of current software options generated interest in future On Point Technology developments, as many people asked when unemployment insurance tax audits would be available.

Are there any new developments in the detection and management of UI fraud that you would like to share? Let us know.
Did You Know?
Telephone and Web-based claims have made life easier for claimants and for UI program administration. Unfortunately, crooks have also benefited from the new era of “faceless” claims processing. To combat fraud, Aware offers 19 built-in fraud analysis tools and allows for ad hoc reporting that enables you to conduct analyses on the fly without bothering your IT department. You can create, save and run your own custom individual audits.
Did you know that Aware can analyze your phone records to track inbound calls to your toll-free processing telephone number in order to detect organized fraud patterns, such as several claims originating from a single calling number?
To learn more about this and other audits based on real life experience and best practices from other states, call Bob Yokavonus at 908-526-0426.
